The Art of the First Dream: Our Philosophy

Sincerity in Every Stitch

At Felt & Float, we believe that the first objects a child encounters should be as pure and honest as their curiosity. In a world dominated by mass production and plastic, we choose a different path: the path of the hand.

Each of our mobiles is born from a pile of soft, unspun New Zealand wool and hours of patient needle-felting. We don’t just make “products”—we breathe life into fibers. When you see a tiny Nutcracker or a drifting cloud in our collection, you are seeing the result of thousands of careful needle-pricks, a process that requires a level of focus and sincerity that machines simply cannot replicate.

Design with Intention

To us, design is not just about looking “pretty.” It is about visual poetry. Our design philosophy is guided by:

  • Artistic Integrity: We draw inspiration from classic literature, art movements, and the natural world to create pieces that act as a baby’s first “art gallery.”
  • Intentional Palettes: We use sophisticated, muted tones that provide visual stimulation without overstimulating a child’s developing senses.
  • Balance & Movement: Our mobiles are engineered to “float”—capturing the subtle air currents of a nursery to create a calming, rhythmic dance that soothes both parent and child.

Uncompromising Quality

Quality is our promise to the next generation. We source only the finest sustainable wool and eco-friendly materials because we believe that what hangs above a cradle must be safe, natural, and built to last. A Felt & Float mobile is designed to be a family heirloom—a keepsake that carries the memories of those quiet, midnight rocking-chair moments long after the nursery has been outgrown.

A Note to Parents

We are a small studio with a big heart. We aren’t interested in being the “fastest” or the “biggest.” We are interested in being the truest. Every time a Felt & Float piece enters a home, it carries with it our dedication to craftsmanship and our profound respect for the magic of childhood.

Thank you for choosing slow art. Thank you for choosing sincerity.
